Advice for the removal of sealant residues from the tire

After treatment with the DUNLOP TECH tire sealant the tire needs to be checked and, if necessary, replaced by an expert.

Demounting the tire after treatment with DUNLOP TECH sealant:

  • Remove tire valve and deflate tire.
When doing so be sure to keep the valve in the upper area of the tire so that the residual fluid may gather in the lower area of the tire (illustration 1).
  • Unseat tire from rim flange on both sides.
  • Demount upper bead from the rim.
  • Now position the cover so that you can look into the inside of the tire. You can easily recognize the fluid tire sealant in the lower area of the tire. Absorb the residual fluid with a suitable device and collect it in an appropriate container (illustration 2).
Suitable means for absorption would be an empty tire sealant bottle with hose, or any other spraying device (illustration 3).
  • Once all liquid has been absorbed the lower bead can be demounted from the rim.
Now clean any sealant residues from the inner rim surfaces, by means of an absorbent cloth or paper (illustration 4).
Carefully rub dry the inside of the tire. As you can see, there are practically no tire sealant residues remaining (illustration 5).
  • The service technician may now decide about the further use of the tire.
For safety reasons we recommend the replacement of the tire.
  • Disposal: There is no need to dispose of the so collected tire sealant via the channels suitable for waste requiring special supervision.
  • In the event of contamination of clothing the tire sealant residues can be removed by a qualified dry-cleaning specialist using perchloroethylene. Inform the specialist company of the nature of the contaminant
