Warnair system
is an integral part
of selected Bosch
ABS and ESP systems.
A short overview of our history:
Until 1990: In the framework of the development of Run-Flat tires (DENLOC- System) in the Dunlop tire Research centre in England Dr. Walker and Mr. Holmes confirm the correlation between tire pressure and tire circumference by means of extensive tests.
1990: DUNLOP TECH Warnair is first presented to the European press in Paris.
1990 - 1992: Presentation of DUNLOP TECH Warnair with European automobile manufacturers.
1990 - 1993: Continuous software improvement. David Jones develops fundamental software algorithms for the use in series-production vehicles.
1994: Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI); Kobe/Japan takes over the development of DUNLOP TECH Warnair and expands the business area: Teams in Japan and Germany as well as England and France are working on its further development.
1994 - 1995: Restructuring of the software by the SRI, Kobe development team; preparations for series production.
1997: Start of series production of DUNLOP TECH Warnair in the Toyota Sienna on the Northern American market. DUNLOP TECH Warnair is an integral component of the Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (SEI) ABS here.
1998 - 2001: BMW is the first European vehicle manufacturer to decide in favour of a series use of DUNLOP TECH Warnair in their models BMW M5, Z8, 7 series Protection Line as well as the Mini. DUNLOP TECH Warnair is supplied with a separate control unit. In Japan the Mitsubishi Diamante is equipped with WARNAIR, integrated in the SEI ABS.
2000: The development activities in Europe are concentrated in Germany with Dunlop in Hanau.
2001: Co-operation agreement between BOSCH and SRI/Dunlop to integrate DUNLOP TECH Warnair in the ABS/ESP system. A competition as conducted by European automobile manufacturers clearly shows the superior performance of the DUNLOP TECH Warnair system.
In co-operation with Conti Temic Microelektronik GmbH in Nuremberg the software for the BMW 7 series is integrated in a vehicle module.
2002: The Daimler AG and the Volkswagen group (with Skoda and Seat) decide in favour of DUNLOP Tech Warnair being used.
2003: Foundation of SRIAT (Sumitomo Rubber Industries Automotive Technology) in the USA having their registered office in Akron/Ohio. This office controls DUNLOP Tech Warnair activities in Northern America.
The new 5 series BMW is equipped as standard with DUNLOP TECH Warnair, integrated in the Bosch DSC.
2004: DUNLOP TECH Warnair is spun off by Dunlop Germany and established as an independent business area within DUNLOP TECH GmbH.
DUNLOP TECH Warnair receives the homologation for the Mercedes Benz A-Class.
2005: E-Class and CLS models by Daimler are available with DUNLOP TECH Warnair.
Volkswagen AG homologates DUNLOP TECH Warnair for their Polo and Skoda-Fabia models.
2006: Adam OPEL AG homologates DUNLOP TECH Warnair for their Corsa models.
2008: Honda Civic available with DUNLOP TECH Warnair.
2009: The second generation of WARNAIR detects a natural leakage ( diffusion ) even when it occurs in all four tires at the same time. WARNAIR is in compliance with the legal requirements in the USA (FMVSS138) and in Europe (ECE R64-02).
2010: Confirmation of fulfillment of the ECE-R64 test conditions
2010: The European Commission decided that an inflation pressure monitoring system ( TPMS ) will be mandatory for all passenger cars launched after Nov. 2012, and for all cars firstly enter into service after Nov. 2014
2011: Cooperation Contract SRI / BOSCH signed about integration of DDWS into the ESP.
ESC ( Electronic Stability Control )is mandatory for all passenger cars which firstly enter into service in Europe.
